Research and clinical reviews show psychotherapy is effective, and couples therapy can be highly beneficial when both partners engage. Many sources cite meaningful improvements for a majority of couples. Outcomes vary by goals, timing, and participation.
Average cases in marriage/couples work are often short-term. The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) notes an average of 12 sessions, or approximately 11.5 for marital cases. We’ll outline a plan after your intake appointment.

Yes. Many couples restore trust and closeness with structured support. We pace recovery skills, boundaries, and accountability. Clinical guides also note that therapy can help place the affair in context and rebuild safety if both partners commit to the process.
If there’s ongoing intimate partner violence (coercive control, threats, or unsafe dynamics), joint sessions may not be advisable. Individual safety planning and specialized services come first. If you’re unsure, we’ll help triage the safest path.

Intensives condense assessment, skills, and guided practice into focused blocks so you can make decisions faster and reduce the “re-start” time between weekly sessions. They’re ideal for crisis, high conflict, or travel constraints.
